I have stayed at the Henbury 5 or 6 times during 2009 and 2010 and it is my hotel of choice for business trips in and around Bristol. I work in the medical field and this comfortable, well-equipped hotel (including free internet in rooms) in close proximity to Southmead Hospital is more than suitable. The staff are friendly (to the point of helping me carry large boxes of equipment to and from the car - thanks again Shaun!), the rooms are clean, comfortable and most of the rooms are also VERY large - a bonus when you're tired of being cramped in the usual "shoebox-sized" hotel rooms. The hotel is not in the city centre, but the hotel grounds, restaurant (good and varied menu) and bar are a nice place to relax after work. The current owners are in the process of updating the rooms and the bathrooms are coming along nicely :) You will often see the owners on site - a nice point if you want to offer a compliment or discuss a complaint - I had poor internet connectivity in my room on one visit, but this didn't put me off the hotel and the problem was rectified by my next visit 1 month later. I have had poor experience with other Best Western Hotels, BUT THIS HOTEL IS NOT TYPICAL OF BEST WESTERN HOTELS. I first stayed at the Henbury before it joined the BW chain and can safely say the owners and staff (including the lovely ladies who cook and serve breakfast) are maintaining the standard that first attracted me to this hotel. A lovely place and I would heartily recommend it to all.
I travel a great deal and stay in numerous hotels as part of my work. This was the best hotel I have stayed in in many years. The service was impeccable and the food was remarkable. I have stayed in far more expensive hotels and not had this level of service and accommodation. Absolute perfection. I left a washbag in the hotel and the staff were extremely helpful in returning this to me. I cannot praise Henbury Lodge highly enough...outstanding! I would be prepared to stay here for a holiday. Gorgeous food...well thought out, well prepared and well presented. Real quality. The service was superb. If there is an award for the best small hotel in the UK, this has my vote. When in Bristol again, I will not stay anywhere else.
Fabulous hotel, Excellent service, Friendly welcoming staff. As a woman travelling alone, most of the time, I feel really comfortable at all stages of my stay including eating in the hotel restaurant alone! I have never had a bad stay here nor a bad meal the food is wonderful - once again I've not been able to refuse a desert, even though I should! I cannot compliment the staff highly enough!
